My name’s Beal and I like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I won’t go into any more detail than that here, because I’m gonna have a lot of space to fill.
I’m getting close to completing my collection of old TMNT comics. The black-and-white Mirage Studios series, started independently by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird back in 1984, are my primary target, but by no means am I limiting myself to them. Right now, I’ve got about 170 Turtles books; I plan to someday have them all.
A lot of these comics, I haven’t had the chance to read yet; others, I haven’t read in years; still others, I’ve read so many times I could probably recite them. But they’re all right over there, sitting on my shelf, waiting impatiently.
So the reason I’ll have a lot of space to fill is that I’m going to read one every two or three days, about three books a week, and for each one I’m going to write a little something here on this webspace. It’s not going to be fanwank. I will rip a book apart where necessary, but I’ll certainly find place for praise. And I’ll tangent.
This will probably only appeal to TMNT nerds, and among them only the adult nerds, because I’m not one to be shy of the cuss word or lewd reference. With any luck, though, I’ll be able to keep these entertaining even for the non-loser. Feel free to let me know how unsuccessful I’ve been at that in the comments.
